CONCUSSION TREATMENTS AND EVALUATIONS AT SOUTHWEST BRAIN PERFORMANCE CENTERS ALBUQUERQUE
Concussion Treatments and Evaluations
Concussion treatments in Albuquerque at Southwest Brain Performance Centers are aimed to treat the root cause of the condition, not just your symptoms. We believe that our thorough neurological assessment helps create a tailored treatment plan to help you recover to optimal health and wellness.
Concussion treatments begin with an initial examination, from which a treatment plan will be developed to meet your specific needs. Throughout your treatment, your practitioner will provide you with an objective measurement of your progress. This will allow your practitioner to make adjustments to your therapies in anticipation of potential setbacks.
3 Phases of Concussion Treatment Albuquerque
- Phase 1: Initial Visit
Determination of the root of the problem (receptors, sensory pathways, spinal cord, muscles etc). Additional testing, such as blood, urine, saliva or stool samples, may be ordered or referrals to other appropriate health care providers.
- Phase 2: Week-long Neurological Intensive Therapy
During this phase, a patient is typically seen 3 times per day for 5 days. This schedule of treatment is used in order to create Neuroplasticity. On the initial day of treatment, your doctor will determine what treatments and exercises they will be implementing for the week. As the week progresses, adjustments to your therapy are made as necessary. At the conclusion of the week, you will receive a customized Home Exercise Plan that outlines therapies you will complete at home.
- Phase 3: Long term evaluation
Once your injuries have hopefully healed, it is important to return for periodic re-evaluations and adjustments to your home exercise program or simple chiropractic adjustments to avoid problems in the future. Usually, this only requires a quick visit every 4-12 weeks (depending on the patient and their situation).
Concussion treatments in Albuquerque at Southwest Brain Performance Centers are individualized to each patient. There are no two identical injuries and therefore each patient has a tailored plan of treatment.
